Engineering

The Department also houses seven engineering labs that are equipped with the latest, cutting-edge equipment necessary to help students practice their acquired classroom knowledge. 
 
As we move into the post-pandemic era, the Department is highly focused on optimizing its curricula, policies, and procedures to better serve its students, the community, and the country. The pandemic period, which extended for nearly two years, was effectively utilized to revise the curricula and policies in the Department. These efforts have yielded the following outcomes:
  • Curricula that are aligned with the requirements and guidelines of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET);
  • Reduced credits hours per major to 128 credits;  and
  • Prepared the Engineering Department to obtain ABET accreditation.
The Department focuses on graduating engineers who are skilled, innovative, and highly knowledgeable in their respective fields. The philosophy of the Department at its core focuses on building graduates’ unique abilities in independent thinking, innovation, entrepreneurship, leadership, research, interpersonal skills, and teamwork aptitude. The latter qualities and skills are built-in into our curriculum. Our mission and vision are aligned with this philosophy. 
 
The Department currently has twelve highly-skilled, handpicked faculty members with plans to hire more. Our professors and instructors form the foundation for achieving the mission and vision of the Department and the University at large.
